old pewter item?

This seems to be the top of a lead or pewter canister. Any ideas as to what it is?

Pewter has more structural strength than Lead. It is not as soft as Lead. It will weigh less, although it will contain a certain percentage of Lead.
My comment on this item was because of the apparent laminate effect visible in the pics. I don't think Lead would look like that.

Looks more like lead than pewter to me because of the way it's aged. Also, appears to have had a hole in the middle and I think we are only looking at half of it. M

looks like the top off a large Squeeze tube
Minus the cap to me.
If it wern't for the piece inside the
Threads that would block the hole

I have found alot of them old tubes also lead tops,if its lead you should be able to bend the corner easy,if its pewter it could be part of a colonial candle stick holder from a spanish shipwreck close by :wink:
