Oldest U.S coin you've dug in Michigan? (Now Ranked!)

1863 Indian Head Penny.

Has anyone dipped into the early 1800's???

*** 1700's?***

As you find coins this season - post them here! Post as many times as you want and keep us up to date on your oldest!

*** I hope to keep this going for a while - I'll keep ranking the coins by oldest as people keep posting. Honor system rules ;D Let's see who's dug the absolute oldest dang coin in this state!! If you have a picture - please post so the rest of us pretenders can drool! ****

If you haven't found a real old coin - please still post your oldest, it's very interesting to the old coin shooters! The goal is to find out what coin ranges there are being found around the state. We may not have Colonial history - but there are alot of old coins out there! Please post the coin type, date, and general location of recovery.

thanks,
Ian

An 1886 V-Nickel and a 1885 Indian.
Both at the old Fairgrounds but about 400 yards apart.

Since this place was virtually empty until the 1870s.....

Good Luck all,
Mark

Good to see you survived the winter Jack! And actually made it back from Wisconsin! Do you hear the fairgrounds calling?
Good Luck,

I dug up a Bust large cent but with no date also a turban head but again no date so the oldest dated is a 1823 large cent. I have dug a couple reale coins but they are not U.S. Jim
