I wish I could pan in my back yard. I've found gold flakes (not fools gold) in my brook, unfortunately in 1776 NYS made it a law if you find "gold" or"silver" on your property, you have to turn it in to the state. One would think if you own the land, it's yours? Nope, not in NYS! I was born & raised in California & love going home to mine with my brothers every year. Congratulations to you!!
If you pan on your OWN property and find any gold, New York State says it is theirs? Do they pay your property taxes for you? Could it be NY is worst then Calif.? Wow...

Just keep sluicing bank it like everyone else.. Your property.... I have mineral rights on mine not the other people.My minerals are arrowheads lol. well that and mountain stone which I have sold oh yeah timber 2 but you get a 10-99 on that.
