This is your first coin ever? You haven't any coins before this?

Well I found a 1997 penny on top of the ground about two months ago but I didn't have to dig. Just bent over and picked it up. So I guess this would be the first coin I've ever actually dug up..

Oh man, that's a total tragedy. I kinda had a fear of that happening before I could get it home so I kept ckecking my pocket every 15 mins or so. Its in a nice safe place now.

I will bet everyone who finds there first best of any type of find looks at it every few minutes just to be sure they still have it I know I did it.

you are officially ruined for life * --to dig a 1858 (pre civil war era) seated half dime (silver five cent piece) from the New Orleans mint "o" in great shape as your first coin --well sadly that's just about as good as it gets * its all down hill from here. ---sweet find -- my only seated half dime -- I ever found was a 1838 "no stars" "o" --it was so worn I could barely ID it.

That's a fantastic first or even last coin DD. Congrats to you on that beauty.
I've only dug one half dime so far in over 10+ years. It's a holed 1833. I thought those were such tiny coins until I dug my first 3-cent.
