You people won't believe this one! I was leaving foodlion(grocery store) tonight an a guy was using the coinstar machine an I saw he dropped a dime so me being the nice guy I am said you dropped a dime..I picked it up turned out be a barber dime..so I said hey I want this one I'll give you a dime for it... he said no keep it.. I then looked into his return tray on the machine it was filled with all silver coins!!! barber quarters 8 total, barber dimes 17 total, merc dimes 7 total, Rosie dimes 41 total, silver washington quarters 11 total, 10 pennies ( 5 wheaties , 5 ,43 steel )I then asked him wow where you get all these coins? He tells me he found them at work.. I said you found a cache? he said I guess I don't know.. he said I have silver dollars an half's also..I said really he said here in my pocket he pulled out 3 silver dollars ( 1 Morgan 2 peace) 8 half's ( 3 Standing Liberty,1 Franklin's , 4 JFK 3 SILVER ONE CLAD 1971 CLAD CORRECT?) I said I'll buy them all he said face value cause the machine won't take'em.. I paid 18.00 for them all the coins some are in what i would say at least Au-50 to Ms I just started to get into coin so I can't grade myself yet... the one peace looks like it was minted yesterday!! I don't have pics yet I just got home had to write this before I forgot details.. but hope to have some soon!! What a unbelievable night!!!

omg Creeper, YOU LUCKY CHIT... I am telling ya, the only way I would find a cache is if it hit me in the head, and my luck I would pass out and some passer by would get it... dang man, you got some good luck.
I admit this is plain luck! Booty you find the gold I'll find the silver caches..deal? lol

he was running them thru the coinstar --where he'd get face value only minus 7% for handling fee that the machine charges for counting the coins and printing a reciept out -- you by giving him "face" value in dollars --you saved him 7% on the handling cost -- and for any complainer types --what you should pass up that silver and big dollar coins and let them go for face value to some smuck teller ? --hey it was being spent *** get it*** the guy needed or wanted sumpin -- you were just lucky to be there and smart enuff to seal the deal rather than have it walk off on ya -- the dollar coins would have been taken at face value IF an older teller that knows about silver was there -- it would have gone into their silver "stash" --- however if it was a younger kid running the till he'd most likely to have to get a manager to "make" them take those coins -- cuz they never seen 50 cent coins and old silver dollars and ike dollars --freaks em out --duh does not compute * -- greet haul wish it was me. --oh yah --heck I'd gave him a nice fresh "paper" $20 for $18 bucks in silver all day long

I always check those reject slots on the coinstars  --since they reject silver and many tokens and foreign coins as well -- everytime I go in it check it out. made some nice finds that way * psst the holes in the dump tray look thru em --often theres diamond or other stone stud earrings or gold earring in the tray below --using a spring load push claw type nut / screw grabber you can fish em out ;D -- yep --I'm shameless-- lost items like that are fer me.

OMG Ivan you just freaked me..How the Heck you know I gave the dude a 20.00 bill an he gave me 1 bill an 4 quarters in change back.. Omg that is freaky!!!

Holly Crap !! See the truth is he snaked them from some old lady and he just said he got them at work. No matter how he got them it is good Karma for you that you got them. Good luck, a blessing or however you want to look at it. The way you said he dropped a dime and you noticed it was a barber that is just obvious the cache was meant for you.

Nice job !!

Keep @ it and HH!!

may the FARCE BE WIT CHUEWS-- :icon_study: really humm you gave him a $20 how diid I KNOW that -- magic of course.

are you sure you are still in FL an not in Pa?

I PMedyou with the answer to how I knew over 1000 miles away ??? :icon_study: :icon_king:

does my answer make sense to you?

a combo of deductive logic and statisic probibilty. :icon_study: by using them together you figger out what has the best odds of happening (in the future) or has the best chance of having happened (in the past)

exsample --if your right handed as 90% of the population is your more likely to put things on the right hand side of the dresser if you stand in front of it or in your right pocket. -- so if hunting a cache reportedly 1/2 mile down from the big tree and 1/4 mile down the trail it forks --which trail would you take to check ouut first the right or the left? unless the bandit is known as "lefty" --head 1/4 mile more down the "right" hand trail to find the cache.

Wow great finds - I guess some people just don't care for old coins. I was talking to my postmaster last week and he said a guy paid for his paper and left a 1966 50 cent coin as part of the change. The 1966 50c is different from all our other 50c in that it is round not 12 sided and that its a third of an ounce of silver.

congrats man..... u know.. as the economy gets worse.. you will see more and more silver etc coming out of the woodwork like this.. people will be cashing alot in... the banks are getting alot of silver right now as I am told.. keep your eyes peeled fellas n ladies....

holy crap. i guess i'll have to look at the coinstar machines... i try to check the reject slot of pay-phones... when my sister is with me she tries to tackle me though cuz she doesnt want me doing it. every once in a great while i get a quarter out of it...

Nice score, but just think about all those wheat cents, Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels, Liberty nickels and other such coins that the machine DID accept. If you'd only been there a little bit earlier to save him the 7% - 9% on everything, what a haul that would have been!

trust me scott I thought about that lastnight.. he had over 60.00 in change that the machine gave him after the 8.9% it charges..

Thank you Wanda I'm just wondering why this isn't a Banner find.. it's a cache just not a buried cache...
