On ANA chat there's some talk of Morgans going down in value..???

On the ANA chat there was some talk of the Morgan silver dollars going down in value. That kind of supprised me. These old coins are already selling at a low price. If course there are many Morgan's that have a high value. The 1894 The CC's and so on. And the price of silver going up.

I just wondered if I missed somthing?

There is no shortages of Morgans anywhere. I know there are some low mintages but over all, there are millions. As far as them going down, maybe for how much the dealers pay for them but not what they sell them for.

Yep,when the price of silver went up they started selling for 10.00 + for common circulated stuff.
When silver went way up they actually made it up to 12-15.
Before silver went up the price was about 8.00 each. But they do go up and down quite a bit.

And when silver rose to over $50 per oz. in the 70s, far above the numismatic value of the coin (including Morgans), what do you think the general population did with all that silver (coins, silverware, jewelry, etc.)?
Don...

I know Silver, gold and coins etc. go up and down in value.
This was talk of a major down for the Morgans. I'm not a coin expert
by any means. I deal with them on and off, and have a small collection.
So, I always welcome any information on the subject.

Personally, I think many sold out. Then it was melted down and used in the industrial markets? Some experts say we are in the early stages of a bull market for all precious metals, especially silver. I guess time will tell. I know gold hit it's highest level since 1980 this past week.
