Being ex-lawdog I am aware that the badge bearing the numeral 1 has some significance. For instance the officer that served the longest on our department was awarded badge #1 when he retired after 53 years of service. It is not unusual for the Sheriff or his first deputy to have badge #1,etc. Monty
