One of the cameras from an auction. Anyone know anything about it.

I bought a lot of camera items at an auction. Will be putting some up on the $1 or less thread. Anyway getting to the big items. Only name I could find is on the lens, Bausch and Lomb. It is very big, I put it on a dolly if I am taking it very far.

Could very well be a home build, and depending on the lens my *guess*
is it was used for portrait pics (like mug shots). Also guessing the lens
is 50mm?

Find an older portrait photographer in your area, and have them take
a look at it, or you might even be best checking with a camera collectors
group.

If it was home built they did a good job, However during the cleaning process I noticed on part of the frame an arrow drawn in pencil -> on a board. The part with the glass has two gears that can adjust the glass part at small angles up and down or side ways. As far as old photographer this belonged to one found some school kid year book type pictures but tossed them. No wood case.

Yes it is a large format camera and was probably used for industrial purposes as the large format negatives could be blown up huge and not lose so much detail. It reminds me of some that are still in use at Rolls-Royce Aerospace for wall sized, engineering schematics and accident investigations of engine parts to show very fine details such as hairline cracks, etc. The lens would be in one room and the bellows and rest of the camera in another room as they are so large. What size is the negative/glass plate on the back of it? I will see if I can find out more about yours.
