I found a one piece SC button, I never seen one before. Is it rare or common? Life time find in my book. Block I button, Union eagle button, eagle one piece button and a big bandy button. Also found the brass piece that I dont know what it could be?

One piece SC button. The back mark "Young Smith & Co. New York".. I never seen one before.

Awesome finds! I'm looking forward to learning more about that one-piece SC button. Never seen one.

Really great hunt! I'd say that piece is definitely gun hardware though I'm not too knowledgeable in guns. I would be so excited to find that!

Both Albert's and Tice list one piece South Carolina state seal buttons, but neither list your backmark.
Nice early SC button!

Very nice! I think the SC button is just like one I found a little while ago. I thought mine was a smashed 2-piece, but now yall got me thinking it's a 2-piece flat. I really don't know.

DetectorMoe, your button looks to be SC220A1 in Tice's button book. It is a flat two piece button, not a one piece. These were made by Scovills in the 1830s.

MKW your button appears to be SC218 in Tice's book. It is a flat two piece button also, produced by Scovills in the 1840s. These buttons are on pages 440 and 441 in Tice's button book.
