Only clad today, but that isn't what made me sad.

Went out for a short "walk", scratched the itch. Only got 5 clad quarters and a few pennies.
No pics will have to do today. I'm too sad to make 'em. If anyone needs to see a clad quarter
I'm sure they can find a way. :dontknow:

What made me sad is that I went to a favorite school ground for just plain walking and there were these
flying saucer sized, styled plugs EVERYwhere! It's not that the place is being hunted, as this place has literally
been HAMMERED over the years. Oh, I'm able to squeeze things out of it but I do that everywhere. I also
found them here, today, right alongside some of these divots.

Only with these poorly cut, very large, shallow, loosely put back divots were everywhere and UGLY!
Obviously by somebody using a long handled shovel type deal. What makes me the saddest is that if the
wrong person happens to see these, there's a pretty good chance that metal detecting there and possibly
in the whole county may be changed or outlawed. All because some "pirate" decided to probably stage
a raid in someone else's backyard. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't foul their own nest! At least I think they
wouldn't. I want to believe it was a rookie/newbie but, it doesn't matter who messes the yard, we are ALL
going to pay for it!

We do all get judged by the mistakes of a few

Yep, I bet all of us have seen those before and we will see them again until it is outlawed everywhere. People just don't respect the property of others anymore.

yep,ive had to straiten out newbies before.it is a shame they just dont understand yet or care.most catch on after a bit,but some dont.they are the ones that ruin it for everybody.

I saw that at a ball park a few years ago and I spent more time fixing the other guys plugs, than I did detecting that trip.... Although it was just a short 1 hour hunt before work. It was upsetting to see someone do that.

Also a few years ago a buddy got me and him permission to a BEAUTIFUL Colonial era mansion. One of our friends was the manager of the place... It's still an operational horse farm. We hunted it for a day and it looked very promising as far as finds went. The next day we get a frantic call that a bunch of our plugs were removed and laying all over. My buddy lived right around the corner so he ran over and fixed it. Anyway this happened for the next few nights as a raccoon looked for grubs under the plugs since it was easier than digging his own hole. The final result was my buddy sprinkled Cayenne on the now brown plugs from being pulled up so much. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/368821-coins-relics-problem.html. First time in 6 years that happened... And we lost the permission because of it. I could care less about the permission (even though it was an awesome one) I was more upset about the unsightly short term property damage we caused at the hands of a raccoon. I know I would have been pissed if it was my house. I will say that at the ball field it was just a really bad hunter being disrespectful though. Haha

Oh I would have absolutely loved to be able to determine that these were raised plugs, by some animal. But, they were not, I can tell. Some of them were bigger than a raccoon! No, this *might've* been a newbie. But, I get a strong gut feel that it was not. I get the feeling that this was done by somebody who was making long trips to as many places as they could in the day. Knowing they'd never be back.

I will tell you, it's a damn good thing I didn't happen to catch them/him/her/it in the act!

I'll not be the one hurt by this, I have too many permissions and not enough life left to "hunt them completely out". But, I just hate the idea
that the hobby could become outlawed in public places.

I don't know why it is in life that we all have to pay for another's mistakes, accidental or otherwise. I'm thinking that would make us "our brothers keepers".
May require you to show them The right way to dig & fill a plug...or, my favorite....just throw them in the hole they dug and fill it in!
We have all filled holes others have dug and left because we don't want to be blamed or banned because of it.
Maybe detectors should have "verbal" reminders for those folks to "fill your holes!"....then a reminder shock if they don't....say 120volts....na, that's a tad extreme.:D

I don't know about all that, but I'm not opposed to being the one to report that person for damaging property. Seriously! I wouldn't be opposed to being the metal detectorist who calls the law to report another who is damaging public property. :(
