This may be out there. Years ago when I was into CB's you was able to buy what was called a power mike. It had one or two battery's in it and was suppose to give you a little more transmitting power. Has anyone played with the idea of a unit attach to the coil wire that would do the same.

The unit is calibrated to work with certain coils. I guess if you were to reverse engineer everything to make it work with the new signal it would be receiving it might be possible. But multi million dollar companies that make these detectors have probably looked into that theory already.

I wasn't thinking about changing the frequency just the signal strength outside of the electronic box. The easiest way to increase signal strength would be to do that with the existing electronic inside the box. I talk to Garrett last year and they told me that all metal detectors are regulated by the FCC for power output much like CB's . Old CB"s you could turn up the power output but is it was adjustable but not legal. I'm pretty sure its not adjustable anymore . Just a thought during cabin fever months.

Yeah I could see that working if it was a legal power issue stopping them. I will buy one when you get it figured out!

Last year there was a thread about turning up the output on a 250 from someone from Europe . He had the 250 all apart and showed what to turn up just a little.He said it wouldn't change the target ID. I did try it but the Id was off and not to sure at that point it was going any deeper. More concerned about getting the 250 back to normal. Garrett said that they are check now and then for legal power out put. Maybe turning up the sensitivity is something like that but then you have a falsing issue.

c h,I still dabble in CB,I love shooting skip,ssb though,100 w going into a 4 element yagi on the flat side Cycle24 is peaking. GodBless Chris

Actually the power mike boosted the audio modulation. It would be equivelant to amplified headphones on your detector.
When a detector has a meter circuit and audio, the meter will indicate a target before the audio.
I am not able to answer whether amplified phones will work for your detector.
