Parallel oblique flaking?

Walked about an hour at a site were they been loading logs, the ground was tore up pretty good and then lots of rain.I found a pocket full of brokes these are the best ones in really in 0226180923b.jpg0226180923.jpg0226180922a.jpg0226180923a.jpg0226180924b.jpg0226180923a.jpgtrigued by the side notch piece and the flaking is really nice, I would love to hear any opinions on it as far as age and type.0226180924.jpg0226180924.jpg

Oblique parallel flakes are slanted, your piece looks more like just plain ole parallel or maybe collateral, hard to say without holding it. Nice indeed!
 

Nice flaking on that point no idea on the type probably Archaic

P.S. You should consider submitting your Mahaffey point for the upcoming Overstreet "Next" edition. I think that it's still the best "Classic" example of the type that I've seen.

It's most definitely parallel flaked - and collaterally flaked on at least some of it. Those techniques were used by Early Archaic knappers (think Cody Complex, St. Charles, early Hardin, Pine Tree, etc.).

I'd love to find that any day. I like that flaking..... It's a good find regardless
