My fellow treasure hunters, hello from central Arizona;
I found this item yesterday at a homestead which dates from the 1870's and was in use through the 1950's. It has a patent date of 1-22-13. My guess is 1913. I have checked records as far as patent numbers from 1913 to 1914 and found there is about 33,941 patent numbers used or unused in 1913 and about 1,683 design submissions during that year. Is there any way a person could see the designs submitted for 1913? I would like to know what this was. maybe if I submitted pictures to the patent office, there could be a computer search. Help identifying would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jack.View attachment 1190796 DSCF2669.JPGDSCF2670.JPGView attachment 1190796DSCF2668.JPGDSCF2672.JPG

CABLE RELEASE FOR ANYTHING.....

THEN AGAIN COULD BE PART OF THE FUSE OF AN ELECTRIC POLE.

I believe that was the "part of something" patent -- a very common and lucrative one!! :thumbsup::laughing7:

Definitely either a whosawhatsit or a thingamabob

Sure it's not a board stretcher or bender?
