Pawn shop visit today

Went to a pawn shop today to pick up some ammo for a new toy, and asked if they bought gold....
SURE DO they said......
What do you pay? I asked...........
Well....depends 14K?? $8/gram .... bring it in they say...........

I don't understand pawn shops here....went in looking for some silver coin awhile back, they told me they've got some silver Kennedy halves in back, person went into the back room, I could hear the obvious "clink-clink" of silver...he returns in a few minutes and tells me, "we have some, but not for sale."

Go for it that is a dollar more than I had quoted to me last week by a rock and gem store. I used to trust them but the guy I deal with was busy. There used to be a coin store next door but they went out of business. I guess they have a captive audience now.

The guy then proceded to tell me that the $7 was based on clean 14KT because dirty 14KT was less.

todays 14KT goes for $17.60gr

(I really should not complain, I have gotten great deals on gold. I was happy & the seller was happy)
