Pennies, a dog tag and a buckle

Got out to a town forest this mornng that I have detected before. Nothing too exciting. However, As I was finishing I pulled up this buckle. Hoping it is a colonial shoe buckle or something. Any ides It's exactly one inch long and 'm guessing it's copper because it came p on my detector as a penny.

Its brass & used on horse tack, probably 50 year old or less.
