Hello fellow TNetters,
I got permission to hunt another yard up the street..I tried in vain to find a silver coin, but I didn't even find a wheatie.
I think I made up for it though..first on one side of the house I pulled up part of an old cap gun. I waved the coil over the hole again and still got a signal..it ended up being a crusty old barrel. You could just imagine my surprise when I got home to clean it off and saw whose name was engraved on the side.
Needless to say it was in bad shape..if only the elements were more kind to these long-lost metal objects..

I tried relentless ly to find the trigger and hammer but no luck..it appears this model is a break-open type gun, where the trigger is actually part of the piece that breaks open. It may have disintegrated along with the other parts.
On the other side of the house I got a dime signal, so I started to dig..under about 2 inches was this little bootie..then I saw a chain. When I picked the chain out of the grass roots I could swear I saw 2 little booties, but when I looked at it again there was nothing in my hand but the chain. Finally I picked up the signals again and found both in the grass. They ended up being SILVER !
So I ended up finding silver anyway..not in the form of coins, but in the form of 2 small booties.
I also found ANOTHER brass nozzle for my ever-growing collection. Here's a pic of the entire bunch for your viewing pleasure..I never knew there were so many different varieties of these things.
Hope everyone had a good day and happy hunting!

I started saving those too, but only have about 6 or 7 so far.
