PIN POINTER QUESTION?????

I am looking at getting a decent to good pin-pointer I know that the Garrett is an old reliable one. I am wondering if it picks up metal on the sides or is it just the end? I know its a simple question but the cheap one I got only works at the end and it drives me crazy

Most newer one's pick up on the side.

I bought the Deteknix,, I paid $90. for it and I have enjoyed its performance, My Daughter in law had a fall in her bath room and lost a ring. she looked everywhere and could not find it , I lent her the pin pointer and she found it in the plastic trap of her sink ! bonus !

The Garrett propointers do detect on the side, The Whites TRX only does at the top and bottom of shaft.

Check out the Garrett carrot on YouTube.....I just ordered one. Looks like there are different settings, and one detects out to the sides a bit.
