I think I finally found my first point today while metal detecting. It was found in Western Ma. Thanks for any input.

You most definitely did.
I like to metal detect alot..but I suggest you go there one day without your detector and focus on eyeballing that type material as well as other "different" or man altered stone.
I bet you find more.

Great artifact save!! You can find the copper stuff with that detector. I MD also. But with rocks you need to make eye contact.......HH. My first artifact the tip was broken. That made me want to find a whole. And then you find more artifacts and it begins. Thanks for the pics.

I'd probably guess that to be a Snook Hill or one of the closely related contracting stem points about 3,500 - 4,000 years old.

It was a surface find partially exposed in a field.
