It's really nice and so are the shards, wishing it wasn't so hard to find things in my creek. Speaking of critters being around I've been enjoying the damsel flies! and met a creature I didn't know existed, a Woodland Jumping Mouse. That fella jumped up real close to my face when I was bent over looking in the spot where I found the flint point. I scared him and he scared me and then we had to mess with him and he bounced around a bit and I went back to looking for artifacts and darn if he didn't jump in my face again! Well that was the 2nd time he made me holler and then he went bouncing upstream on top of the water and up the bank. That had to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time and if it hadn't happened so fast would have made a great video.

I saw allot of frogs. Usually where there are frogs there are snakes but I didnt see any today. No cottonmouths in the creek but there are cooperheads and rattlesnakes. Havent seen any there in that area and dont want to either but Im sure they are there. I wear snake boots even in the water.

:icon_thumleft: Looks good! Nice to see you finding some goodies. Re: Like that second one

Yep I've been looking for that big red belly snake I saw last year and haven't seen it so far and don't want to. Only saw a black rat snake once in our shop near the creek but I put out rat poison and snake away in there trying to prevent the infestation or them like it was last year. I saw a black racer and glad to see it, hoping it's taking care of the copperheads. There are alot of horny head fish around that I think the snakes like too, they follow me when I rake lol We thought the jumping mouse was a big bull frog at first because I have seen a big one in that spot and also a big snake skin there too. I'm still wearing my boots too.

Nice round nosed knife Rock, and I like the chunk of red material too. Is it red jasper, or something else? HH.

well you did alright
that creek must be pretty good
i don't understand why things are them creeks?

Took me 6 hours to find something half way decent. 4 hours in the creek and 2 in the field. If we get some more rain the next time I am just walking the field.

You know it looked like Jasper when I saw it and that is why I flipped it out. I believe it is a unifinished scraper. It only shows work on 1 side of it.

That's a pretty sherd rock...about how old do you think they are?

Well the ones that are on the tile are mixed ages but one is cord marked. The one Im holding is a different type and is a rim section. Im guessing it isnt as old as the cord marked one. The better the decoration was the younger the age. Cord marked so Woodland and the other Mississippian so 1500-500 B.P.

Thanks for the information rock, makes sense that the more "perfect" the younger the age....kind of like people...:laughing7: Oh, nice tools & point...and hope your sting boo-boo is better? :)

Believe it or not the sting hurts worse now than when it got me. My whole elbow is hot to the touch and the point is a tip its broken. The tools were whole though. We got rain today for a while I hope to be back in the fields next week. Im going to let the creek rest for a while seeing it is being greedy rite now and not giving anything good to me. My creek is limited rite now with all of the vines and thorns growing thick. The water is deep still in certain spots then other spots in inches. Thanks

Sorry your sting is worse rock...go to Dr. if it's not getting better...your not allergic? Heard there's still rain down south...still ZERO here though.

Hope your sting is better today and hoping you find something awesome in the fields. My creek is full of stuff too and one of the large trees that fell across it last year has moved down some and disconnected at the root, we're going to try to push it on down but not sure about sawing it up, after great discussion we'd rather go across it to get down in the creek than under it at this point. I found the largest shard yet in part of the creek right behind my shop and will post it later today along with a flake, still searching for more flint points lol

As a matter of fact I am allergic to bee stings and spider bites. I always take a allergy pill before I go out now days hunting. Its much better now. I could see the stinger so I dug it out but made it worse. Next time I will leave it I guess. Maybe there wont be a next time I hope. I have gotten a few ticks already. Guess Im not allergic to them.
