Well, I'll fess up. I've got the guts to say.....my fingernails stay dirty..... I use to have a nice set of nails until I became a MD addict.
No more! I cut them to the quick thinking that would keep them cleaner. That doesn't help. All that can be done is keep them washed and use a good nail file to clean under them. (gloves do not help keep your nails clean but they do help you avoid cuts).

fingernails? Between digging in cracks for gold and detecting I haven't had anything for the dirt to get under in years, just oil stains around the cuticles from the old jeep

Don't know if it has any correlation or not;but my grandfather,who made his living his entire life with teams of draft horses,always told me that he just couldn't eat right without a little horsecrap under his fingernails.

I keep my fingernails clean by using 'forensic evidence gathering' type latex gloves (no powder) when I MD.
