Anyone care to take a close look at this 1940S Mercury.
There is some things that are beyond my knowledge set.
The 4 and 0 in the date need to go on a diet.
There are notches and offsets in different places.

This is the coin that I posted with the large crack in the head.

Yes, it looks like minor strike doubling.
 

Strike doubling, or md aren't of any value. I'm not seeing any doubling or notches.
 

I agree on the Machine Doubling. However, the coin shows quite a bit of Post Mint scratches and what appears to be Die Deterioration which seems kind of odd for such details. Due to some areas of the inner rim being beveled, I have a feeling that the coin was whizzed a long time ago.
