I was able to cut the rock in half and was wondering is it a possible meteorite?

It does not leave any streak as common iron ore such as hematite will and it is also magnetic!!

I found something similar near some RR tracks as well, quite a few years ago. It was unbelievably heavy and left no streak. It turned out to be titanium ore.
apparently it fell off of a rail road car.

We used to find all kinds of weird ore and minerals on the tracks near my parents house. Given its provenance I doubt it's a meteorite, maybe some cool ore or mineral though.
