Good luck with it.

At this moment, I have garnets in one container and amethysts, citrine, smokie quartz, and quartz, in another. They are happily spinning like at a carnival, waiting until they day they are shiny and pretty. I'll post pictures of 'em when done. It'll be awhile.

I'm really excited about these, Cappy. Just looked at 'em yesterday after the prepolish and I think I'm onto something pretty nice.

Here's some of my favorites from my garage.
First two are of a quartz crystal I have with a single Rutile needle in it.
Very unusual to just have one needle. These make killer faceted stones that reflect the needle off of each facet.
Next is a 1200-1500 lb petrified log from Holcomb, NV.
It's for sale ($1500). You pick up.
Then a rock that looks like a dog.
Then a swap meet find of a lifetime. Gilson Opal (manmade). Got this piece for
about $1. It's worth at least $300. Gonna put some of it in a ring I made.
Then a nice cab I made. Looks like a volcano with a volcanic flow.
The small triangular rock and it's pic next to dime is a diamond I dug while visiting a
friend in Arkansas. We were at "Crater of Diamonds when I dug this 20-25 pt diamond.
Then another cab I made.
Got tons more rock, moving towards coins and away from rocks.
Who wants to trade stuff for silver coins?
Got lots of mineral specimens.

I too really like the beryl group. I love Heliodor.

And Rev, nice very nice stash you've got there. :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Cap,
I have 50 years worth of this stuff. The tourmaline group is good too.

To give you an estimation of size on these crystals, the little squares of lucite are 1 1/4 inch square.

My avocation is an interest in gemstones. I have done extensive reading and found that precious metals are the 'delivery system' for all beautiful stones. I think your next step is placing some gems in some form of setting whether it be for a necklace or ring.

Good Luck!

I've been thinking the same thing. The plan is by winter to have the equipment and begin the learning.

Note! The angle and lightning seem to make the red stand out more.

EU,
Gorgeous.

Wiz,
the point is to show your favorite. not try to beat anyone.
I doubt that the stones I posted are of lesser value than anything posted so far.
But I wasn't trying to beat anyone. Just like the ones I have.

WizardOfTheStone,
If your interested in a trade I got plenty opal, natural stuff. You can buy also if you'd like. Almost got 1 Kg (2.2 Pounds). ;D

One treated stone (stabilized using Opticon due to cracks)
Both cabbed and rough.. I do most of my cabbing myself these days, all those in the pics I have cut. ;D

Let me know if your interested.
