Been a while, time to contribute. Sold a few things recently after a 4 month break. One surprise was a 4" round Boss Moss patch that I happened to forget I even owned. Apparently it was an unreleased version only given to employees and made in very limited numbers. I found on Worthpoint where one had sold for $92 previously. I listed mine for $100 and it sold in less than 24 hours. Paid probably .25 for it, I doubt I paid $1. Here it is...

I happened to find the patch as I was getting ready to list this ring that I got a couple years ago. It was $1. I listed it for $49.99 and it sold in about 3 or 4 hours.

My baby must be watching over me. Love you Jess.

Hi everyone,

I've been a fan of the site for a while now and am based out of Australia.

Here is my $1 find: Mother of pearl caviar set.

Just sold for $20 on eBay.

(Just want to see of it goes through as it's my first post)

Hi again,

I think it went through so here's a few more.

$1 finds are a great way to learn as your cost is not great. It allows you to research item categories which you wouldn't normally purchase.

Technically, an Australian dollar is worth 71 US cents if that still counts?

Italian pipe: Sold AUD $15

Alice in Wonderland book w/ dust jacket: Paid AUD $1

Paper boxes: AUD $1 each

Franklin Mint Cats: 60 cents each sold 3 for AUD $60

Brilliant Plane: $1 in rough shape. Cleaned w/ bench grinder. Probably only $10-$15 but learnt something.

Hi,

Unsure about overseas but some vintage helmets seem to go for $15-$30+ online from the mid school 1980s BMX era in Austrlia.

Not massive winners but they keep the account ticking over. Sometimes they just need a wipe down.

Both these were next to nothing as dusty and bought in amongst a box of other garage items from older estates (for $10-$15 the entire lot).

Speak soon.

Hi,

It's rare for me but here are some $1 jewelry finds (am only able to get a few gold pieces a year, if lucky). Don't really concentrate on it but every now and then you see a costume bag with a genuine piece. Not big winners but it's easy to store and ship.

Does anyone have any tips to finding real jewelry for novices? I just try to look for a numbers on the item (925 or 375 etc.)?

Bought these two little chickadee figurines for $1 each, sold the pair for $75. Made by Andersen Design Studio of Maine. Marks were not very distinct on the bottom of these two, as seen in second photo, but it is usually a joined AD mark like the third picture (which is a sparrow that I bought for .25).

I had these gauges in my garage and put them on eBay. I thought maybe I would get 20 bucks. I started getting offers and someone wanted me to end the auction with a real good offer I almost took. I have been bit before. I cancelled the auction because I didn’t even have the name of the gauge in the listing. I relisted the auction and listed this brown and sharpe pocket sheet metal gauge by itself. 720 dollars. Check your tool boxes the ones with a patent date and the older ones without are highly collectible. I don’t remember ever paying for the gauges, probably Grandpas or from a sale somewhere. Machine tools, especially B&S or Starrett, can be quite collectible. I've never sold something for nearly that much but wow, great find!!!

*Sorry for no photos!* Check out SOLD hand painted needlepoint canvases online to see what they go for!

Recent rummage sale purchase was a large plastic tote FILLED with hand painted needlepoint canvases. Probably 50-60 canvases? I knelt down to look at them and to see what the sign on the bin said, figuring it was probably a per piece price... nope! It said "All for $8.00". Just as I was getting super excited the seller sees me looking and says "Oh, my gosh you can have it for $3.00... I just want to be rid of them!" Don't need to do any more convincing! So per piece price is pennies!

So far they've all sold in the $30-$40 range/each. Barely scratched the surface and already almost $200 sold.

Bonus of course is that they're lightweight and non-breakable so easy shipping.

Needlepoint stuff can be very, very good to you - embroidery thread, handpainted canvases (especially signed/known designer), kits, good wooden hoops (Duchess, Princess, Royal, Queen - if felt-lined check that felt isn't moth chewed). Most can be found relatively cheaply as well.

I have had good luck on the embroidery thread. Bought about 100+ skeens (?) for a couple of dollars. Made good profit on them and did not take long at all to sell.

I bought over 100 Dimensions Gold needlepoint kits that were discontinued. Haven't posted about them on this thread because the cheapest was $1.21 and prices went up to $1.99 each so they don't qualify. Because someone else brought them up.....except for 5 or 6 that sold in the $15 range and around 12 that sold for over $100 they sold between $30-75 each.

Was driving home and saw this little garage sale this past weekend. Walked up and saw this for $1.00 next to a Chinese cheapo watch. Self winding Waltham (Gold Plated) with the wwII leather band. I'm not retiring but she sold already for over $40.00. Glass and backing had some scratches. [emoji16] IMG_20190602_190344.jpg IMG_20190602_191125.jpg IMG_20190602_191018.jpg
