Could this be artillery shell related? This friend found this by the Thames River. Part of me says yes it looks like part of a fuse but the other part says no. It is definitely copper. Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas despite it all.

What’s in the center? Ceramic or some type of base metal. Possibly electrical. It is well made. If ceramic I’m guessing it’s the remains of a teapot or coal skuttle handle.

She thinks it’s metal but she is not too clear on the details to help identify. Thanks for your answer DCMatt.

Dont know why but it reminds me of an old CB antenna, some of them had a coiled spring base.......

Could be a piece of a ferrite rod radio antenna...

Why does it make me think of a frostbit or petrified finger made into a jewelry?

Looks like the center piece is twisted iron, like a fireplace tool. I wonder if it were a whisk broom from a coal stove, and the copper was the binding that wrapped the bristles to the handle. : ) My guess. oooo, but it is tiny... hmmmm...

To me (I’ve restored vintage radios for years) this is an antenna from a vintage tuner/radio/stereo.
