powder house?

So, about 3 years ago my grandpa and I saw this little building in the woods and he called it a powder house. He said that back in the day gunpowder and other ammunition was stored here. we saw it on top of a ridge and i was wondering if it is a powder house or something else? He said it was there when he was a kid. I was also wondering if it would be worth metal detecting around it. I believe the building was made out of concrete but I'm not positive.
