Love your shards! Love the hummers too and that's a great pic! I just put my feeder out a few weeks ago and have a couple enjoying it but they are shy.

Thanks Peaches....you've got hummers to, what kind are they? This is a black chinned hummer, girl of course! If yours are shy, just wear your most colorful top and they should start coming right up to you. lol I did a "daily shot" posting of this one with more pictures. Have a nice weekend!

We have the ruby throated ones and so pretty!

Nice sherd finds Kat we like peaches have the Ruby red throated ones, but they are not shy by no means. We go through about 45lbs of sugar a year and have 6 feeders, some time you can hear them inside the house humming. I can not count all of them they look like wasp swarming around a nest.

NCPeaches & monsterrack....the ruby throated hummers are beautiful, don't think we have them here. But do have the Rufous & they're redish all over. Our neighbors do feed the hummingbirds and they come to our place to nest. Think we have 6 different kinds here, only got pictures of the black chinned ones so far, the males are purple & green. Wow monsterrack, sounds like you're swamped with hummers! If you guys have pictures be sure & do a post on the "my daily shot" forum or here...we'd love to see! :)

hey hey CK

very interesting and cool thread!

I've seen them swarming like that in Georgia at my sister's and mom's houses and we could be all around them and they didn't mind at all but in NC there aren't many and we usually have about 4 or 5 around the feeder at one time when it gets warmer here. Maybe it's the hotter weather that brings them there, Summer isn't as hot nor humid where I live.

Nice shard finds and the hummer

Thank you Larson! :)

Peaches....you know, my neighbors have feeders for the humming birds and they swarm like you said and they nest at our place. I'm thinking that where they're doing that means their "nesting area" is near...and where they don't swarm as much, they've had to travel further...if that makes sense?

rock....as usual...thanks! lol

Nice finds... I tried several ways of kidding about the verbiage in the title and in responses....but ... Nope... Can't post'em. :-)

GatorBoy........guess I made a "bad funny" & didn't realize...thanks for your discretion & clueing me in....:icon_thumright:
