Hi all,

Went out today for a bit and came back with not much to show, but this cosmetic tin was pretty cool to unearth. It says Princess Pat on the front of it. After researching, it sounds like it’s from the early 1900s (20s) and women used it to remove the shine off of their noses. It was apparently a really good brand to get.

Also, I found this interesting piece, and I have no clue what it is or it’s age. Do you?

Lastly, I’ve found these small pieces of really heavy metal before. What is it? It has numbers on the side of it and also it looks like someone carved “LR” on the one end of it.

Sorry all, here are the photos again!

I was told the second photo could possibly be a belt buckle. What do you think? The site it came from is on a revolutionary war battlefield. I’ve been finding lots of late 1800s and early 1900s items too.

That looks like a shoe buckle, but it would have to be open in the middle to work. Please show us the back of that buckle. That is very interesting looking. At least a hundred years old... maybe much older, but I can't tell.

Well done!

The last piece; the metal block, looks a lot like lathe cutting tools we had in the machine shop.

The head machinist would buy just plain blocks of carbide and grind them into custom tool bits for whatever job he was working on so we had dozens of them sitting in boxes.

That buckle is gorgeous though; wonderful patina and a really nice find!

Thanks everyone!! Here is the back of the buckle. I once had a website that helped me date them. Do you know it’s age or have a reference site?

Also, the metal piece, any chance it’s old? It has a sharp end on it that looks almost like a scraper. Only reason I ask if it isn’t scrap is because there are initials hand engraved on the end of it. Kind of interesting.

Second time now I forgot to post the pic. Sorry everyone!

First photo is the BACK of the potential buckle.

Second photo is the FRONT.

would love to know everyone’s opinions on its age. Also, is it normal that some buckles don’t really feel super solid? If I push hard enough, it will bend.

Sorry to bump my own thread since it’s been a week, but I have a couple of items that I’ve found that I’ve never been able to truly get a positive ID on. This potential belt buckle is one of them.

My question is, how can I positively ID this so it doesn’t just sit in a box. If it’s a 1700s buckle, I’m trying to donate my finds to the school that gives me permission to be on their land (revolutionary war battlefield).

Here is the potential buckle again. First pic is the front, second is the back. Thanks all.
