I need advice on some knee pads for detecting.
Little back ground, I have bad knees from the Army days and need to protect them when digging targets.
Thanks in advance

I’ve used the padded hard plastic ones you can get at the hardware store. Works good to keep stubbly brush from poking holes in pants and knees.

I got these three years ago and they work great. Harbor freight for less then $20. It keeps my pants dry and the they support my knee good.

I've been using some cammo pants I purchased online that are used for paintball gaming. They have built-in knee pads that are very good. The end result is durable pants for hiking with plenty of pockets, and knee pads that do not require straps. The knee pads are plastic/foam that reside in knee pockest closed using velcro. I'll never go back to strap-on knee pads.

I bought a pair of construction type knee pads for my old knees. hey work great. I don't recall the brand.

My buddy gave me a pair of military knee pads. There camo and work awsome!

I've read about these, but never went any further in buying a pair.
Thanks for the review

I know the strap behind the knee really hurts me. I'd rather carry something around than use them again.

Nearly any will help to one degree or another. It may depend on you if you'll need durable expensive ones or el cheapos. I have bad knees and haven't been detecting in 2 years. :( If the source of the pain is in the knees like osteoarthritis or bone spurs then the pads won't do much as in my case. Protecting from rocks, glass, and other such things you'll want the pads for and will help in lowering impacts to the knees. I do miss detecting, but I need new knees and the doctor says I'm too high risk to operate. The new knees would put me into a lower risk category, but they think of their lawsuits and not my health.

Knee pad straps can dog into the back of your leg and be a pain in the rump.

In cold weather I use pants with built in pockets for knee pads.

In warm weather I use these when wearing shorts. The straps are wide and their placement doesn't dig into the back of my legs. - Favorite Knee Pad

I use the knee pads cause I have skinny, boney knees. I need the padding!

I’m going to try the no cry pads. These days I stay away from military knee pads they didn’t help much to begin with lol.

I have beat the living daylights out of mine and still going strong. They are a bit beat up but for what I have put them through I would expect them to be worse.

Yeah, it doesn't take lo g before I get a sore knee, so i've double up my pair together and the landing has been that much better.

I never wore kneepads until I knelt down hard on the point of an acorn. I thought I broke my kneecap it hurt so bad! :laughing7:

I've been wearing knee protection ever since.

Yeah I'm sure that ruined your dig that day. I'm too old to stay uninjured. Whether knees or hands etc, there's always something I have to deal with while digging. I'm keeping Tylenol in business that's for sure.

I just had a total knee replacement. I had always worn knee pads during construction and detecting. I suggest you protect those knees however because the surgery is a nightmare!👍
