Pulled a 1742 cut silver piece from last year's gold coin site

Finally had a chance to get back to the site I hit last year where I found a $1 gold coin, a US boxplate, colonial coins & buttons, and CW relics in a single hunt (my first T’Net banner post). The day started out with a good omen as a bald eagle escorted me across the bridge a short distance from my house, and then I saw another one shortly after arriving at the site. But the day started out quite slow as I only had a couple buttons in my pouch by late morning. I started to wander a bit hoping to find another hotspot in the huge field, and eventually settled down in one area after being surprised by a piece of cut silver (half of a 1742 one reale). This spot was not only producing the occasional colonial relic, but quite a bit of CW artifacts were mixed in as well including bullets, buttons, a LC, and misc brass. So I was quite happy that I salvaged what could have been a lousy day.

Excellent day Bill. I love that key hole escutheon

I quite like that large 18th C Harness mount at the top centre of the photo. I've not seen that type before. (nice patina)

I like the knapsack hook. Great finds.

Thanks Cru. Its quite a large piece (67 x 35mm) and still has 2 of the 3 hooks on the back. And I never put anything with a nice patina in water. Dry cleaning worked fine and preserved the original look.

Bill you're still doing it to.great finds man.
