I bought my CTX with the gold finds my Sovereign made, and still had some left over.

still trying to find enough to pay the shipping on the first one I bought

I have paid for all of my detectors with my finds except my Excal I bought that one with my scrap money one year

No - I keep everything and just pay cash for the new ones. I bought (5) new detectors in the last (2) years.... :)

All of my detectors have paid for themselves with the exception of the XP DEUS. I have only used it 3 times.
lol

I have paid for all of my detectors by selling finds, taken detecting trips and paid some bills.I cant make a living at it but detecting has been pretty good to me.this spring my wife and I had an $800.00 day, super rare of course and yes gold rings involved but that day alone paid off her new atp and then some.
:occasion14:

I probably could if I was a clad digger or a jewellery hunter...... but a few crusty wheats, buffalos, indians, and a silver dime here and there won't get you much nowadays.

I'm sure I could have paid for my deus, using the at pro's finds. But decided to keep the finds instead. For me it's much more gradifying, to see all the awesome stuff I dug. Plus knowing I currently have $2-3k in gold, is a nice little emergency fund, If needed...

All my machines were paid for by the previous machine except of course my first one, which paid for itself and the following machine.

Never have given it much thought really.:dontknow:

Never sold a single find, I cherish them all! :headbang:

I agree - I keep it all - I have been detecting since 1977 and still am excited when I find a wheat penny :) I hope that feeling never changes!
