Question on point

On this point, there is a large flake removed on the reverse. In terms of how this happened, is this an overshot flake, manufacturing flaw or something else? The front is thinned but the reverse not as much due to the flake. Any ideas from the knappers out there?

When the maker of the point first spalled off a piece from a core, the one side was flat enough that it did not need to be worked as extensively. I believe they are called flake points or uni-faced points. Yours looks to be well made.

I would say so. I've seen them from various places and on different types of points.
