Rodeo Recon and I got out for a bit today and I got skunked except for a few little buckles. (I deserve to get skunked after the recent successes I guess...) Anyhow, Rodeo got this awesome L&N R.R. lock. It says "7-19" on the lever. Congrats, Rodeo. I imagine this one will clean up nicely. If anybody has any ideas on how to get it working again, please feel free to share them. I know that any L&N key would potentially turn the lever.

something else that'll clean it up and free up any siezed up parts is soak it in transmission fluid, or a mixture of tranny fluid and mineral spirits.

awesome lock, my grandfather worked for the L & N for about 47 years. very cool find!!

thats one sweet lock!! wtg :) RR items are def. the shiznit of finds! hh jd

:o :o Whoa!!! That is EXTREMELY nice Will. Make sure that you tell Rodeo that I said so. That is one PRETTTTYY R.R. Lock. I would rather dig that than an Eagle button. I am sure that ya'll had a blast and that is what it is all about. You cannot ALWAYS find an outrageous amount of relics......But shoot, ya'll have been doing Pur-ty Well lately so hey think of it as one slow day to the 5 or 10 that were awesome these past couple of weeks. ;) ;)

LOL. Yes, you're right. I knew there would be a slow day for me--a streak like that can't continue forever. Been a lot of nice things come out of the ground in 'ole KY recently. You should send rodeo recon a PM. He does get online--and he finally made his first reply the other day--after three months of LURKING ;D There have been a lot of PM's about this lock, and I'm happy for him. I've never found one--but after seeing that nice of a relic come out of the ground I'm adding it to my wish list. My only concern now is squeezing a few more hunts out of this season before the freeze.
