Got up REAL early today 4:30 to the sound of rain. . Had some coffee and hit the road by 5:15 to the spot I discovered last year where I got my 2 CT Coppers & my KG III. Well into the woods I went in the rain & suited up with my rain poncho. My mood was about the same as the weather. I had been dying to get out & it rains.

Anyhow my 1st target was the merc at the lip of the hole. At 1st thought reale but saw it was a merc. As the day went buy the rain picked up but then tapered off & the sun made rare appearance.

Hit a few cool buttons & my 1st complete pewter button with a nice design on it. As I continued along got a real deep signal about 8-10" & out popped my 1st complete shoe buckle!

Got a good signal under some roots & got a set of cuff links. If anyone can ID, I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping it's British Military, seeing Frank dug his cannon ball here.

Well finally hit the road @ 12:30 after at least 6hrs. Felt good to get home & shower off & get into dry clothes.

Hope everyone has a change to get out this weekend.

Thanks In Advance,
Roger

amazing cufflinks! those are gonna be special i bet

Thanks Dave! Keepin my fingers crossed for British Military! Perhaps it's for a commemoriatve purpose ???

I'm most impressed by the shoe buckle, as apparently you are from the number of photos you took of it.<G>

It looks too ornate to be common, and might be embossed silver.

Rog,I posted this thread onto my thread and hope some of the colonial guys will come over here and give you some feedback on the cuff links.I talked with dan(Leddel) and he's gonna look into them for you as well.crossin my fingers for ya buddy that they are something special

Beautiful finds there Roger! :icon_thumright:
As I always say . . . "a bad day detecting, beats a good day at work any day!" :laughing7:

Love the Colonial buckle and these cuff links!
Congrats,
Dave

that's what I said"where is everyone"? c'mon fella's! help my boy out here!

Maybe you should title this thread " cuffed a few links to the past"...........NGE

Roger, that spot is hot.

Many times I have woke up at 5 am to the

sound of rain, I always try and wiggle out

of going and my one partner Weaver won't

have any part of it. It always works out and

we end up having a ball and making good finds.

Rain or shine this is the best hobby in the world.

You know that spot has more goodies.

Good Luck.

Killer buckle and cufflinks :headbang:

My type of finds man

Awesome finds. Is that a pewter or tombac button.....or is there even a difference?

Hope you get i.d. on those beautiful cufflinks :icon_thumright:

One of the best hunts that I have seen in a while!! That buckle is awesome!

Some beautiful early finds there! Congrats!

Love that pewter button with the big honking shank!

I think the cufflinks may be French. Looks like 3 fluer de lis in the middle. Reminds me of one of those Spanish coin facsimile cufflinks, isn't that a date 1770 on it?

Cool finds Roger :hello2:
Buckle and links are awesome.
I`m confused with the Merc from that site?
Previous detectorist drop? ???

Great stuff,
Stay with these finds & you can't go wrong. :D :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright: Very nice batch of colonial.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Very nice finds! Thanks for sharing. I have a question for you New Englanders though. At the risk of sounding really --deleted--, why does there seem to be an abundance of old cellar holes in NE, but relatively few in the South? Are most of these in state forests, public, or private lands? Do you have to get permission to hunt these areas? I did find an old cellar hole/foundation near my home in VA and have received permission to hunt it. I'm waiting for frost to kill back some of the vegetation. I spent about an hour there earlier this summer and there is a LOT of trash - is that typical of the cellar holes and old (colonial) foundations in NE?

Thanks for any information you can provide.
