hey Tnet yesterday i nearly stepped on a cotton mouth i jumped back and shot it with the 22 and has anybody seen tom lately

Man, what part of Texas are you in?

Back in my day in Texas a snake was a payday for us. There where always labs around that purchased them, and of course the rattle snake round up every year was good for selling out rattlers.

I was stationed in Louisiana from 98-2000, there was even better money there for snakes. Cottonmouth mack then would get you 70 bucks, and seriously who cant go out in a evening and bring home 5 good snakes.

If your good and scared of them and respect them, then you may want to see who is buying them up in your area. Back in the day there was always a larger research demand for wild snakes over farmed snakes of the same species.

Nice part about it is that it is not one of those hobby jobs that most your mates or others will hear about and decided to invite them selves in on the action of your pay check.

You ever make it out to Toledo bend. Back in the day with older machines (LOL) if you where crossing over in to Texas right past the dam, there was a little park on the lake, right side of the road. Used to find some good stuff there. Never got to hunt it out, plus it was back in the day, machines where older. Heck these days if it has not been touched an AT Pro would make that place like good ground.

There was one spot that kept giving up rings, necklaces and coins between the park and an old parking lot. Small little beach section. You look on a map and it is called Sam Forse Collins Recreational Park. All that beach in front of the forest would give up some good stuff. Wife and I would park there in that dirt parking lot between the Sabine river and that beach, set up camp on the beach, go set trottlines in the Sabine and go back and MD. The Sabine always gave up some good cats and that beach paid well.

Never once saw another person out there other than Police who would always come by and check the area. Must of been a very boring area in crime and any ssort of traffic because each time we would offer a cold drink to the police and have a chat for an hour or half hour.

gold boy,

There are safe ways of handling snakes so if you like Oddjobs idea it might be worth investigating. A fellow detectorist I knew was very familiar with handling rattlers I'll see if I can find the picture.

gold boy,
A bit of a story for you along the same lines. When I was young and single we had as pretty extensive group of friends and acquantances that I played sports with, partied and vacationed with.

One of them was terrified of flying so he took flying lessons to beat his fear....lol.

i kinda scared of snakes i'm not proud either

Sweet, I have a big knife and I am great with removing things, now we just need a third with a hot glue gun.

Here GB... just bite on this... ***ARC shoves the ol wooden peg leg into Gold Boys mouth***

There now don't worry... you cannot drink any rum with that in your mouth but that's ok...

The leg takes all the pain away from your other leg and tranfers it into this leg using your teeth... the harder you bite the leg the less your leg hurts... Savy ?

Look I do not want you to feel like there is any peer pressure, but it is really the in thing, well at least most the places I have been in the past 30 years. Plus it is really sharp, and do you have any idea what human trophies sell for mate, I mean hands are a joke, that leg though has some many applications, lamp shade, umbrella holder.

Just saying, no peer pressure.
