What branch were you in?

I've been out for 33/34 years (too early for math). Army. Of course I only had a two year enlistment. And since I had my first kid then, I didn't stay in. I still remember I had to pay a whopping $11.75 for her hospital bill.

USAF, but not in the "real" military. *lol*

A little while ago i thought when i got old enough i would go serve but my dad,uncles,and my grandmother talked me out of it and did they scare the heck out of me with there speeches

My childhood best friend was in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Shield (was that the first one?). I was just getting out about then. Just weeks before I got out, the gubbermint came out and changed things so that time/training in service would no longer count towards civilian sector, other than simply being a veteran.


In other words, in my opinion, you didn't miss much. .....But you COULD have!

Seems I hit the bullseye, but still missed everything.

Thats my home away from home. I spend alot of time there every year. 6 months last year and 4 months the year before. Directly offshore is a deep water pinacle that I fish alot. My signature pic is a wahoo caught about 2 miles offshore of the looking glass bridge. I love harbor island and eluthera !! Hope to go this summer after my trip north !! The treasure hunting is fantastic. Found some incredible wrecks there including the BALTIC that our friend here at treasurenet mackydon salvaged partially in 92. This one was lost and forgotten with 1/4 of its cargo still in it. After 6 days of searching I rediscovered it in 2015. What a thrill !!! Also found a 1790s spanish man-o-war. One day maybe the bahamaians will open up treasure salvage and I can excavate this virgin. Oh well wish I was there now !!

Let's just say the military toughens you up big time. I did boot camp when I was about your age but army reserve only and even that was quite the workout.

I remember having a shoulder that was black and blue for about 1 week from an outing to a firing range where the recoil from the Lee Enfield rifle would actually push me back when fired and that's lying down...lol.

Those who saw active duty well a lot of them are still having after effects many years later.

We got there during that rage and it was the reason the baltic wreck was uncovered. The surf was incredible that day and we had to go around the backside. No way possible to come in the frontside without loseing the boat. 15-20 foot surf that day. Actually that footage dosent look that bad.......ive seen it much bigger there. Not the same day im thinking about.

If I were you I'd send them a pm and tell them that they are conserving their iron artifacts all wrong. And for a consulting fee you'd be prepared to coach them on the proper methods.

Today with internet communication you could do it all from your home base.
