Hey ECS.........I just found a book that made me think of you. Its called "florida breezes or florida new and old" by Ellen Call Long. This one is a copy of an 1883 edition. After reading the swamp gold thread and many others that you have posted in I realize that this book is right up your alley. You probably already read it, but thought I would mention it to you. Lots of good info regarding life in florida before and after the civil war .

Wow what a jammed pack weekend! I'm feeling groggy this morning.




I was happy to share my weekend with you guys. Thank you, AARC, gold boy and Blak bart for the "ATA GIRL's" on the pirate balloon and the fish! I kind of see that balloon becoming my next avatar. Of course, that means I will go through gender confusion again and have to pardon people. LOL! Speaking of which, Bart, I had to beg pardon. I've been on here for almost a year and just found out someone I thought was a he is a she. LOL! Pretty funny, IMO!

Coming back to reality has been a little sobering with all the bad news from the weekend.

Got to play "catch up" on the site now.

Will spay or neuter help to calm them down? Spay Neuter will not change their personality. This would require brain surgery (I hope you catch the humor). Every pet, like every person, has some positive social habits and some negative ones. These tend not to be of hormonal origins, thus spay neuter does not change these behaviors

Ya that little sucker is a real pain in my butt.....we love her though. The fun she brings to the family far outweighs the pain in my butt. By far hands down the smartest cat ive ever been around. She will get spayed though........her mother just had a second litter. The mom " miss meow meow" lives at the end of the block. We love little hurricae irma shes great !!

Bart,

Funny I was never a cat person when I was young. But when both me and my wife were both working we adopted a stray kitten and have been hooked ever since. As you say they can be a pain in the butt but they grow on you like fungus....lol.

Not sure RTR........old enough for me to put the coil to the soil !! I think its pretty old !!

Yeah Bart, the plan was to hit it with the detector during the winter.But the broken foot changes all that.Now the foliage and snakes are to thick

I thought you posted a pic of that once before. I think I said I thought it might be really old. Stacked stone with no mortar is a good sign. Same construction method was used by loyalists in the bahamas. Mid-late 1700s hard to say maybe earlier. this is a loyalist plantation on royal island. These walls were a stockade for live stock, but are similar in construction. Wood beams would have been used in conjunction with the stone too. If you dont see evidence of wood then it might have rotted away. That would make it older than younger. Of course thats just my opinion based on pics, I could also be totally wrong. I would hit it as soon as I could, never know when someone else will find it.
