You wanna talk about sea glass ?

Here is what we collected in 10 years holidays on the Isle Rügen:

Sea glass, sea ceramics and a 19. century medicine bottle I bought there and filled it with original sand, shells and sea grass.

There are also some hundred pieces of driftwood anywhere in the cellar and don´t to forget, my high end stone age objects (plus some kilos lower qualities). I think I ve posted some in the old thread like daggers etc.

On the Isle Rügen are some shops who sell simple necklaces with a single piece of drilled sea glass and a leather band for 19 Euros and up...

Those pictures from artists I posted on the last page goes from 150 Euros up to *** !

Never been to Rügen; Borkum a great deal. Lots of that shiny black stone there, forget what it is called though. Never found one piece of glass there though. But Borkum is where I have my record for ring find in a single weekend, 77 rings, 49 silver and the rest just bling. Likely always find so many rings there because they cost like 5 euro, just cheap tourist silver crap, but also always some really good change too. Only ever found a few gold item there.

Some other stuff you can find on the Isle Rügen.

70 Million years old relics from the Rügen Chalk.

The Brachiopode - Shell with the open "mouth" I picked free by my self and it is still working! You can open and close it and the two pieces still hang together.
The brown piece with some sharp flint stone edges is a very very rare to find crap.

I don´t like the north sea at all. Dirty and very salty water and the entire nature is flat and boring.
Believe me Buddy, the east sea is a DREAM on every single point!
But you are right, because so many people made holidays on the north sea for such a long time, you find jewelry there as there is not an end
What we found while detecting the beach was always money. Euros and the older GDR money. But most of this light metal money is eaten by the sea and nothing worth.
I found 4 very nice and large older fishing sinkers. minimum 80 years old or older.

For me the east sea is more for hunting and fishing. North you can as well, but there is too much MDing to do, and lots of UXO, like lots of UXO. Used to do joint UXO Removal training up there with Interpol. It was more a paid holiday for UXO techs in Europe, be morning training until 1000 hours and then off the rest of the day.

About 6 years ago I watched two techs out of Baden Baden get totally wasted and start a fight with some tourist, they too a funny beating and then called the police because they lost what they started. Which normally works pretty well in Germany, not that time, too many ausländer cops there who hate cowards abusing the badge.

We never found a red one.
We was very happy when we found our first cobalt blue and yellow glass


HA! Just found an other bag!

The broken face is from an very old porcelain doll which was washed at the shore.
Still wondering what kind of jaw this is in the middle... A east sea "mini"lodon ??

all the glas comes from one single spot. Marked on the picture.
It is a wild beach without many people there (just insiders know that place)
You have years there you find just a few pieces and on the next year you find many glass and also many neolithic artifacts washed on the shore.
Archeologists dived there some years ago and found just 300 meters from the shore about 30.000 neolithic artifacts!
