What ? The 1715 fleet didn't make it to the Great lakes...:tongue3: LOL

If I'm not mistaken (and I very likely could be!), didn't the St. Lawrence River connect the Atlantic to the Great Lakes? Seems I remember learning (long, long ago....in some other lifetime that had me in public school freaked-out-smiley-emoticon.gif) that they had to modify a few places in order for anything of any size to get through, but that for a while it did.

Is I mistaken?!?!? Read a Map (Follow Directions).gif

Oddjob,

Yeah things kind of bounces around doesn't it? metal detecting, food, music and everything in between kind of like a get together at the local pub.

Bill

I'm still wondering if it wasn't all the GIF's that locked it up. I never had ANY problems, except when there were lots of GIFs. They really slowed my system down badly!

As for the hot sauce, I prefer Frank's RedHot cayenne pepper sauce. Have never been into overly hot/spicy, and prefer just enough for flavor. With the flavor of Red Hot (which isn't very hot), I get the awesome flavor of cayenne without having to have a different meal than the wife.

By the way, last time I bought some Tabasco, when it arrived (bought from online) it was MUCH darker than I ever remembered. I contacted the company to ask if this was normal, or even OK, and never heard a word back from them. So screw it - I just won't use it anymore. ...Ain't like they're gonna lose a lot of money off of "ME"!! :laughing7:

kcm,

You're right about the St Lawrence River connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes....problem is the place I live is called Lachine and the Lachine rapids are only about 5 to 10 miles east of me and vessels of the time couldn't make it beyond the rapid to access the Great Lakes.

Funny thing was the French explorers of the day had orders from the King to find a water passage to China going West instead of overland East. When the arrived at the rapids and couldn't go any further they tongue in cheek called the place I live Lachine or China....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I can go back to surfing today's finds everyday if you would like lol

Thanks Bill.

I also remember seeing an old B&W movie years back about a boat (not a "ship") that got so far, then they had to tow it overland by hand. Am wanting to say the movie was called Hudson's Bay? ...Was probably a different river also. :dontknow:

...Did I miss something??

Ok, ok...stupid question. I "ALWAYS" miss something! Guess I should be asking WHAT I missed? :tongue3:

kcm,

Odds are it was the St Lawrence River it's the main artery used by the fur traders Hudson Bay Company. There's actually a former warehouse that's now a museum in Lachine.

Bill

Well Bill, as you like posting so much music, ANDDDD how I never officially welcomed our new friend Vhoov, I think I'll throw an oldie out there -- one of my all-time favorite musicians, Mr. Roy Clark!

OK, so where does Vhoov fit into this? Well, in this particular video, Roy talks about a word (briefly) at and just after the 00:50 mark.

Folks,

Found this a few years back not sure but might be a door knocker.
