Rank Insignia ??

Winter and I can't dig so I am cataloging and putting away some of last seasons finds . I am thinking this might be rank insignia . I found it on a site that dates from early 19th century to modern . This is the same site I found the 1813 wellington 1/2 penny token and the mass militia button from the same period ! Rank insignia ?? Age ?? Thanks for looking MaineRelic

Looks like one of those little studs people used to wear on the soles of their boots to stop the heels/leather wearing down.

Wishful thinking on my part I guess ! My first Instinct said small leather strap end . or strap boss . I will mark it as that. I will date it late 18th early 19th century unless there are any objections. Thanks Mainer !

Hey no problem Mainerelic. As I said I'm pretty sure that's what it was ID at. And I would say your time period would be correct. Sure will be glad to see spring get here. But did get out today on the mud flatts, hoping to get out tomorrow aswell. Take care, and think spring.
