Hey yall,
This is my first sluice, and honestly my first time at carpentry, the whioe experience was awesome. And I can't wait to make another. anyways, I mixed the idea of hungarian riffles, and drop riffles together, with a pivot so clean out is a easy, couple drop hinges keep the pieces pinned. lemme know what you think! Modification ideas? Anything!

Looks good! Interestring concept of combining riffle styles. Let us know how it all works.

Good Luck!

I shall do, it'll be getting a nice hardcore workout tomorrow and so am I lol, it weighs I'm at 35.4 pounds

make sure you seal that bare wood before it gets wet and swells! the only way a person could rate your sluice is how good it retains fine gold. and only you are going to determine that! good luck!

Well got a chance to swing the big guy around, but the rivers running to wild to try it. Guess I'll seal it in the mean time lol.

I finally got the chance to drop the big boy in, soon as ths setup hit the water it said said feeeeddd me, so I did classifying down to 1/2-1/4 redneck classifier. Soon as I fed material into the mat it just sat there. Fail, dropped the angel it pushed blonde. Took the riffles out and tried just drop and that worked great. Cut in the 45 at the top to pickup water flow, waiting to go back out again ugh

A wider flair to direct water into your sluice would definitely help out getting more water down your sluice box. Right now that would be the thing I would try, you just need more water flow and it will be a lot better. Maybe just put some wood on your 45 degree angles about 6" long or so on both sides and try that, trust me it will help.

Thanks, Chris

Good suggestion man, I was thinking of some complicated flair attachment, yours sounds less painful, thank you

It looks nice but litlle bet too big it must be lot of work to were you whant to set it up

Looks Good!. Nice work. Remember to varnish or at least waterproof seal the wood for lots of years use. The flare Idea Is very smart. Remember that since you wont be shoveling into the flare you could go with thinner board to keep it 36 lbs light lol

Put some wheels on it, yer gonna need em!

Here is an old wooden one I made from rough cut pine 15 years ago, never sealed it, sits out in the weather and is holding up ok.

I lined it with aluminum flashing.

wood is easy to work with and repair, but mine got a little heavy.:laughing7:

Also if nothing else you can go to Home Depot, Lowes, etc in their metal section and they sell small sheets of steel and aluminum. You could get a 12"x12" piece of metal, cut it in half and have 2 sides for your flare that would be lighter than screwing wood on there and then you could even gently bend them out more to get a wider flare if needed. Now if the box stores are a little pricey on that (sometimes they are, for example I know folks who go there to buy angle aluminum and it's like $12 dollars for 6 feet and I get a 20 foot stick for $14 from my supplier) so if you have a metal supplier in your area, stop in and you can probably pick up some small pieces of metal for free or at most scrap cost. Most of the time bigger shops just have a pile and let you go out back and see what you can find for little to no money.

Food for thought,
Chris

Tossed the flair on,and it works perfectly now, was catching very fine, and a few nuggets. But once I saw good stuff. It was time to test the fluid bed, and that thing by god.

Good to hear you're up and running now!

Good work now all you need is some shovel time and you're in business!
