I'm not whining. I am awakening.

Today I took my old generic MD to a local pawn. The y said the best they could do was:$5.00.

That's five dollars. I laughed. It was originally about $300. I figure fair value? Cheap..$50.

I then went to another pawn not too far down the street...and simply asked for research purposes...what they would offer me on my $150 Sterling Italian men's chain. (necklace).

I again laughed.

They told me, "We don't take silver." Try down the road,"

I guess what I am getting at..are two words...Greed...and Hype.

It makes you wonder what the true value of anything is..anymore.

I mean I actually watch and enjoy Pawn Stars...but I think they rip people off...daily.

It is a pawn shop out to make money for themselves. They are 'helping' you by giving you SOME cash.

if you want true worth don't ever go to a pawn shop. they are not about that. they are usually looking for someone desperate for any cash they can get.

put an ad out and sell the MD yourself. you will get top dollar then all in your pocket. A pawn shop could easily be about greed and hype. it is kinda the nature of that biz.

Pawnshops would rather buy a "still smoking hot" gold chain from a local crack head, than offer you even 20% of the melt value for your silver chain. He's a regular customer, you aren't. Damn average white man, what's wrong with you?
