I've been out a few times recently for some short hunts. I'm still trying to get the hang of the T2SE, but it's coming. I'm quite impressed with the 5" coil. Here's a few of my finds . . . part of an old hand bell (I think), an old bullet, and a 1939 Merc. Also, part of a child's cowboy toy, an old picture locket (its a little larger than a silver dollar), an old plate, part of an old iron spoon, and something that looks like a butt plate.
On the bullet - its .50 caliber and just under 1.4 inches long. It was found near a CW battlefield. I can't ID it - any help? Also, is this iron piece a butt plate? I found it on a farm that supposedly had a Confederate camp. It's about the right size, but only one screw hole. Also has a slight indentation cut in one side in the middle along part of the length - any ID help on that? The old locket was found at the same location, as was the psychedelic plate.
The spoon was also found near some CW action. Looks to be iron and responded well to electrolysis. It has a "WB" mark on the back. I think I read somewhere these were counterfeit silver and manufactured in England circa 1800.
Any ID help would be appreciated.
