Recommend me a gold detector

Hello Guys,

I am looking for a gold detector to search for lost gold. We expect the gold to be around 3ft-5ft. I know this is very deep. The target is a bunch of gold coins. Any tips? I did my own research, but I would be grateful to hear from you guys being in this hobby for a while.

2nd - You didn't mention your state (or country) - but you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).
3rd - Whatever you decide - please consider buying one from one of

At that depth, you will be looking at a Minelab GPX5000 or a two box detector like the White's TM808 or the Fisher Gemini III. The problem at that depth is that there isn't good discrimination. What has your personal research shown to be good choices?
