Ok today I went to MD with my friend Darren (Kaliguy) for the last time this year since he is going back to the states. We went out to a park in central san jose called "La Sabana" this park has a very interesting history, here it is for the ones that are interested in it:
Now having this history in mind I found some interesting relics that might be if interess.
I don't know what this is, it has a mark on the weight that says 160.
It looks like some kind of thermostat but not quite sure. Might be of an old car or airplane? If someone has any idea Please post.
It's a key but it looks old to me... any ideas?
This came out and I almost tossed it away since it was all covered in dirt, but since the detector told me it was of some good metal I decided to keep it and clean it, from a preliminary research it looks to be a tag of some aircraft part. Still have to understand what part. If you have ideas LMK.
This where my total finds for the day.
Anyhow I am very happy with the relics even if I am not shure 100% what they are.
The hunt lasted like 4.5 hours after we decided it was time for lunch and call it of.
Kalliguy thanks for the great time spent together hunting, and hope to be able to hunt with you next year. Take care my friend.
The park was officially inaugurated in 1977, though its origins go back two centuries. San José's parish priest at the end of the 17th century (1783 exactly), Manuel Antonio Chapuí, donated several plots of land in Mata Redonda, "in order to favour Costa Rican's interests". Since that moment the area will house the current park was used for recreation and sports activities.[4]
Costa Rica's first president, Juan Mora Fernández, and other josefino personalities devoted themselves to provide the park with several dispositions with the aim of preserving this green area legacy.[5]
For more than 150 years the park developed its characteristic vegetation, spurred by planting campaigns from the citizenship. Although in 1930 this proyect was halted, when the government decided to locate the country's first international airport within the park area. La Sabana International Airport worked for 44 years, till the inauguration of current Juan Santamaría International Airport.[6]
During 1960s decade the idea of turn La Sabana into San José's lungs was taking up again. With that goal, trees, shrubs and grass were planting. It will be in 1977, during Daniel Oduber Administration that La Sabana was officially classified as Metropolitan Park. More recently, La Sabana had been declared National Architectural Heritage, by Executive Decree 29305-C, dated February 23, 2001.
