2nd hunt of 2017: Indians, nails and a button!

Today I went back to the spot where I dug the now much discussed ring and started afresh listening to those ground signals. First target was a bit more of that stainless watch band but from a different hole. Many nails were dug but I posted two that look different from the rest; these don't show signs of rust.

There was a button today and it is a first for me....a pewter button.

All coins today were cents and the first of these was an 1875 in VG to F condition. Nearby I dug another Indian....an 1891. Later I would dig a third IHC and, surprisingly it was another 1891. Late in the hunt I came upon an area that gave signals that I interpreted as possible multiple targets and this turned out to be the case. First target in the hole was a mower-damaged wheat nearly on end. On the opposite side of the hole I dug a piece of iron and below that came an 1865 IHC.

More goodies from the place I've been pounding since December 1st!

Nice digs McDig. Say, you wouldn't by chance be one of the "Hoover Boys", would you?
Good Luck !!
Phil

Hi Phil! Not a Hoover but hunt the same parks. I would add that I wear a camo cap that is my favorite; it's my "go-to" headgear for detecting. I refer to it affectionately as my "Redneck Bob" hat in honor of Bob Horst, who is a Hoover boy.

Thx Tony! Dug lots of square nails before the first coin. It's great to see green in the hole!

Thx Art! Most of my hunts since Sept. 1 have been at this park. Amazing how much is still being dug.

Thx Jeff! Agreed. The mansion sits on the hilltop and the surrounding front and sides are littered with square nails but intermixed with all the coins, buttons and occasional personal effects. As a general rule the rusted iron is several inches deeper than the good targets.

Thx ATW! Yes, this is the best spot I've hunted in all the City parks. I've been hitting hard for a couple months now. I plan to keep at it.

We are Indian hunters my brother metal head. Nice finds again McDig, keep on digging! I like that we both got four and that you got 75 and I got 76, we are both skirting around that elusive 1877.
Loco got one!

It never gets old. Found my first IHC at the same park a couple years ago.

Thx treble hunter! Brother metal head, ain't it the truth! I get a little crazy any time I spot a "7" on an IHC.
