Found on pre civil war farm land along with other relics. Still trying to figure out where the ring is from. Not your average symbols on the face and still cant figure out what the image on the side is, beautiful patina. Any suggestions would be awesome!!!

Really interesting find! I have no idea what it represents, but will follow this thread. Did you post it in the What is It forum? I would put it there also.

not yet, Have been a lurker for awhile now just to calm my obsession of MDing!! I think its about time I start posting my finds!!

Image on the side looks like a western saddle, and on the top looks like cattle brands. At least the Bar CC looks like a brand, the others ? The skull wouldn't make a brand at all, at least in real life.

I agree. I thought it looked like a saddle, but was trying to find the horse!

Hey xcolo1 .. Welcome to the forum! :hello: Neat find!

that little gun may be out there near where the ring was found. would cool if you could locate it too.

Cool find!!!! :icon_thumleft:

Unfortunately I live in MD and the ring was found in VA, dont think I'll find time before the ground hardens up to get down there again. The land is owned by a friend so I'll just wait for spring.

That is a cool ring :icon_thumleft: nice find to bad the spark gun is missing , i used to have one a long time ago :laughing7: i think when i was 4 or 5 iam 63 now i do not remember who gave it to me , if you fan the palm of your hand on the flint wheel sparks would come out the end of the barrel just like you where shooting a six shooter hand gun :laughing9: i think the brass gun broke off after awhile and that was that . Thanks for bringing that very old memory back to me ;D .
Good hunt  Jim

Yes that's an I.D. I thought it might have something to do with guns after seeing the bullets (cartridges) that went around the ring. Cool find :icon_thumleft:

If it's a pre-CW site, then it's also a CW and post-CW site as well...What is the relevance?

That's like saying it's a pre-Vietnam, Vietnam and post-Vietnam site...

All sites in the United States could have the same ID tag line...

Now if it came from an 1825 farm, then it has meaning... :coffee2:

Looks like and angel blowing a trumpet, with a rod. Could this be impressed into a wax seal. Seal ring, double sides....Hmmmm

Just had to add that 500BC touch to it, funny me!!!! :laughing7:

I still can't figure out why people complain about the pros here
