Ring of mystery

My daughter talked me into going out again this evening for a little hunt. She really didn't have to twist my arm very hard either! At first I was not finding anything. Two hairpins. PERIOD! Boy I was depressed to say the least. She wasn't doing much better. She was having trouble pinpointing something so I started out of the water to help her. Just as I got to about the last step out I got a hit. It turned out to be a ring! ALL RIGHT! A RING! WHAT EVER IT IS..... I'LL TAKE IT A RING! yippeeeeeee. Well it turns out that this is kind of a mystery ring. It is a dolphin ring and it is silver! 925 inside! Here is the mystery... it looks like it opens! I can't get it open and I'm not going to force it but I swear it looks like it has a hinge at the back and a crack around the mouth and the top of the body area. Here are the pictures of it.

I do not want to force it because it is a SILVER RING and I don't want to ruin it. What do you think?

I also got a real nice surprise up around the picnic tables. A 1938 Buffalo nickle! WHAT A SURPRISE THAT WAS!

My first hunts this morning were the pits but this one late this afternoon sure made up for it!

Just a note here.... my daughter only found a few coins and some hairpins. There sure were a lot of those around tonight!

looks hinged to me --mumsie --take your time figgering it out do not "force it" --the "bump" by the nose might be the release button that opens it .

Cool Mumszie. Isn't that your 2nd Buffalo nickle? Was it from the same beach as the last one?

I might be wrong, but some rings have those secret departments to hide certain illegal substances in which I'm sure if there was something in it, it would have washed away in the water. But, either way, it is a cool ring. It might be too small to have one of those kind of hidden departments.

I can't wait to get back for the summer. All of these finds that everybody keeps posting.......

Cool Ring Mumszie!

An idea: Perhaps it opens from the tail side, where you think it's a hinge?

I had a hinged ring that opened kinda opposite to what I expected and said "love" inside.

Hope you can open it easily.

Hi Mumzie:

I've seen a lot of those Dolphin rings but never one with a compartment. Very cool!!!! Sand might be jamming the latch. Try washing it well and possibly use a soft tooth brush to try and free it up. Ya had a very cool day.

[size=13pt]Very nice ring Mumszie. Maybe a drop of WD40 on the hindge and let it sit for awhile, might help to free it. Let us know when you get it open.

I've been trying! FOR 3 DAYS! My husband had me soak it in some "liquid wrench" but that hasn't worked. My son has tried to open it and couldn't. Ah well I am not going to ruin it just to make it open so I guess I just have a real pretty dolphin ring. I'm happy.
