Rivers and Streams Equipment

I want to start detecting in streams and shallower rivers this year. What is a good digging tool to use? I'm thinking a shovel wouldn't work that well. Maybe a pick axe? Thanks for any info.

That will depend on what the river bottom is made of. You might need a sand scoop, a pry bar, shovel, etc.
