SILVER!!

Someone bought a bottle of vodka with a roll of half dollars where I work today. As soon as I saw the roll, I knew they were old. Now I am the proud owner of 20 Kennedy half dollars from 1964 to 1969, all of which are in excellent shape. Two or three them could have just been busted out of a proof set. I was dumbfounded that the person was going to use them to buy liquor...
I would post a picture, but the digital camera is on a trip with the wife right now...

Nice catch!! A lot of the old timers who knew the difference between real silver and what passes for it now, saved the real silver coins, even the 40% halves. Now their stashes are falling into the hands of the younger generation who haven't a clue to what silver is, and they dispose of the coins.

Yeah, sadly, there were only 2 1964 halves in the roll, but both are in great shape. All the rest are 65-70 with less silver. I saw a roll of these minus the 64's go for over 20$ on ebay, and I doubt seriously if they were in as good of shape as mine are.

Look out for the 1970 halves-- these weren't minted for general circulation and are pretty rare!

Silvers 1/2 roll

Probably just a younger generation burning them up as mentined but another possibility is that these were stolen. The people who usually steal this sort of thing don't know the real value and are usually just looking for some quick money for their next hit - be it drugs or alchohol or ???

Not trying to put a downer on your catch but you may want to do some checking around as there may be a reward offered for the return of goods and or capture of the suspect.
